One of the many things our school does for the student body is provide the opportunity for students to drive themselves to school. Given, however, that there are limited parking spots on the school grounds, each year students either receive a parking pass with their ASB card, or pay for one.
Thisyear however, instead of receiving the all powerful parking pass, with its shining glory and knowing they are allowed to park, students received ticket stubs. Upperclassmen were confused at this so called change, and lower classmen not knowing it was any different just wondered how this tiny ticket stub was supposed to save your car from the dreaded boot.
Jeanne Mcgovern was able to enlighten the difference between this years and last years parking pass as she is in charge of the operation. “We were giving these out as a temporary solution,” said Mcgovern. “We hadn’t received the parking passes yet, [so] we decided to give out the tickets just to make things a little easier”.
For students worrying about the possibility of losing such a small but valuable piece of paper, there is no need. “You simply come down to the office when your name is called to receive your parking pass, you don’t have to bring your ticket with you, its just so that we know its done, students know its done, and there’s just more accountability all around.” said Mcgovern.
Students should be able to begin picking up their real parking passes later this week. “If not, it should definitely be next week,” said Mcgovern.
