Back-to-school season is about letting go of the old and plunging into the new. New classes, teachers, friends, school supplies and routines all create a feeling of freshness and change. Even with the shiny new accessories to our daily lives that come with school, the fundamentals of what we are here for stay the same. When it comes down to it, coming back to school is about returning to learning and a state of growth.
While students are making changes and gearing up for the year to come, the staff of theBlazer is making changes of its own. During the 2017-2018 school year, we transitioned from black-and-white newspapers to full-color newsmagazines, grew our online and social media presences and placed eighth for Best In Show: Newsmagazine at national competition. It was a year of immense growth and opportunities for further changes to be made.
Our editorial staff is eager to fine-tune the new things that were introduced last year, and we are looking forward to sharing our changes with you. This year, you can expect to see five full-color newsmagazines, updates to our new website on weekdays and posts to Twitter, Instagram and our new Facebook account covering breaking news, sports and activities at Timberline. The newest addition to our coverage will be videos posted to our website and social media accounts covering events.
Through the hubbub and excitement of the new school year, theBlazer’s ideals and mission are the same as they have been in years past – to serve the Timberline community by providing it with quality, accurate, fair and truthful news and content.
We wish you a productive and happy year.
